The Dell Inspiron Mini is now available in the United States for sale. This 12-inch netbook/ultraportable crossover starts at $549 and is in part slower than the Mini 9 (one of which we have up for grabs don’t forget) with a 1.33GHz Atom processor, but features 1GB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and comes loaded with Windows Vista Home Edition (XP and Ubuntu options will be available from December).
A speedier $654 (on early sale at $599) version is also available with a 1.6GHz Atom processor and a 60GB hard drive, plus a 6-cell battery. The top model prices at $758 (on early sale at $649) and comes with the same processor as the model down, but with an 80GB hard drive and an extra year on your warranty. All of the models also feature advanced wireless options for people on the go. The 12.1-inch display continues to blur the lines between netbook and laptop, being on the large size for the former and small size for the latter.
