HSI joins the netbook fray

Here’s an interesting story from Lilputing via Tech Ticker that shows how more than the big names are getting in on the netbook craze. Graphics card maker HIS has revealed its new netbook offering in Mumbai, India. It definitely shares some similarities to the MSI Wind U100 minus a few LED lights, perhaps being less than subtle on where the brand got its inspiration for the design from.

Specs are the standard of today, with a 10.2-inch screen (1024×600 pixels), an Atom-powered 1.6GHz Intel N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 2.5-inch SATA HDD with unknown storage space as yet, three USB ports, Wi-Fi, and a 4-cell battery with a charge lifespan of up to 3.5 hours.

HSI offer Bluetooth and an upgrade on the 0.3 megapixel webcam as options, and plan to offer another netbook with HSDPA/WCDMA support in future. The price for this relatively obscure release is a little over 20,000 Indian Rupees, which converts to about US$404.
