UK report: Netbooks account for 1 in every 7 computer searches

Netbooks account for 1 in every 7 computer searches according to UK-based Hitwise Intelligence. It wasn’t as if we needed more proof attesting to the surging popularity of netbooks, but there it is, and even with the computer market at large predicted to weaken soon, netbook sales are likely to stay strong over Christmas time.

Four netbooks were recorded among the most searched for computers by UK internet users last month. The Samsung NC10 was the most popular, ranking in second place (the Sony Vaio laptop came in first, for those curious), then the Acer Aspire One in third place, followed by the MSI Wind (seventh place), and the ASUS Eee PC (eighth place). Just missing the top ten was the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, a whisker away from allowing netbooks to control half of the rankings. Of special interest is the mention of the Samsung NC10 becoming the fastest growing netbook since the beginning of October in search rankings, with a staggering 675% increase.
