MSI officially introduces the U115 Hybrid

In late November, we reported that MSI planned to release two new additions to its popular MSI Wind series, the U110 and U115, both with a unique first-time feature called a “hybrid storage system” that means the netbook has the ability to run a hard drive and solid state drive simultaneously.

Two months later and MSI has officially introduced the U115 Hybrid netbook after previously revealing it to Europe earlier in December. A big feature is the new “Eco Mode” that disables power to the hard drive to prolong battery life, while also giving the netbook extra protection. If the machine is only running the SSD and something happens to your netbook, like a bad bump, being in “Eco Mode” and having the HDD disabled would protect it from possible data loss.

The U115 will come packed with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and SSD/HDD combo options of 8GB/120GB and 16GB/160GB.
