It’d be redundant to throw out the “Everyone is getting in on the netbook frenzy” line yet again after only doing so yesterday when reporting EMTEC’s new sub-$400 netbook, but a day later, via CES 2009, we have another brand stepping in for a slice of the cake.
This time, according to ZDNet.com, it is ViewSonic, best known for making monitors, digital picture frames and projectors. Well, here they come with the VieBook, which the company launched at CES alongside an all-in-one PC called the VPC 100 ViePC. Both are slated for a February release and the 10.2-inch VieBook will start at “a competitive” $429.
Spec-wise, we could pretty much recite it without knowing. Along with the usual 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, you get 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, an Ethernet LAN connection, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a 4-in-1 card reader, Windows XP Home Edition, and a batter that with about three hours of life.
