Sony are telling us not to label it a netbook, but we will anyway. The Sony VAIO P, which has been the talk of the town lately, is now available for pre-order ahead of its scheduled February release. Pricing starts at $899 but if you really want to add firepower (such as a 128GB SSD), it could cost as much as $1,499.
The “basic” $899 configuration features an 8-inch LED backlit X-Black LCD (with its 1600×768 ultra high resolution), 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, 2GB of RAM, 60GB HDD, and runs Windows Vista Home Premium. Available colors are Onyx Black, Garnet Red, Emerald Green and Crystal White.
At half the weight of the usual netbook, it is easy to carry around and show off, but whatever you do, don’t leave it unattended!
