Toshiba’s NB100 gets an update

Toshiba’s 8.9-inch NB100 netbook is about to get an upgrade, with CrunchGear reporting that two new sequels to the original called the NB100HF and NB100H are on the way.

Like the original, both new NB100 models will come powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 1GB of RAM, along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The NB100HF will ship with a 64GB SSD and the soon to be obsolete (on netbooks at least) Windows Vista, which is a sure bet to slow the system down. The price tag on that one is a heavy $880, but given technology tends to price higher in Japan, that isn’t too surprising.

The NB100H will feature a 160GB hard drive and Windows XP Home and with a lighter price tag, $770, may appeal more to those familiar with Vista’s performances on netbooks.

The NB100 is available in Europe and the United States but whether these two updates will be remains unknown.
