ASUS has announced via a press release that its new ASUS Eee PC 1000HE netbook is now up for preorder. Billed as the “pinnacle of netbook computing”, the great lure of the 1000HE is the industry-leading battery life — which ASUS claim you can get up to 9 1/2 hours of running time from with a high-density battery combined with the company’s own exclusive Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) technology.
But alongside the impressive battery is the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor that will make boot times and software launches quicker with extra power. The 1000HE also boasts a 10-inch LED display, a 160GB hard drive, 10GB of file-encrypted Eee Online Storage, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0, and a webcam. The other difference between this model and its predecessors is the new “chiclet” keyboard for faster and more comfortable typing.
The ASUS Eee PC 1000HE is available for pre-order in Fine Ebony Black and Blue colors at the official site or on Facebook at an introductory price of $399. And for a limited time ASUS is offering an additional $25 instant discount.
