UMID’s mbook isn’t a netbook — its waaay smaller!

It’s a pretty slow day for netbook news so I thought I’d post about something somewhat related — at least if you like small computers.

UMID out of Korea have produced what appears to be the world’s smallest laptop or a pocket computer. The UMID “mbook” has an incredibly tiny 4.8-inch screen, much smaller than even the most petit of netbooks. It weighs just 315g and can fit in your shirt pocket.

It may be compact but the specs are actually pretty impressive. It is powered like some netbooks by a 1.1GHz Intel Atom processor (a 1.3GHz version will also be available), 1GB of RAM, and the 4.8-inch screen manages a 1024 X 600 resolution. It also offers connectivity options in the form of WiFi, Bluetooth, and optional 3G, while also coming with a webcam.

Price-wise, it will be about £368 in the UK or US$533, so not your typical bargain mini-computer.

Here’s a YouTube video showing the presentation of the mbook at MWC ‘09 in Barcelona.
