Short battery lifespans in netbooks are a thing of the past, at least in the case of the MSI Wind U115. EEE-PC.de have been running battery tests of the new U115 and the results have been pretty amazing.

Running a test in Battery Eater Classic they found the U115 had a battery life of 13 hours and 15 minutes. The netbook was switched to 30-percent brightness for the test with WiFi off and using an SSD instead of a HDD. They plan a second test with WiFi on but it isn’t likely to make much of a difference to battery life.

The Wind U115 utilizes Atom’s new Z530 processor which seems to be in part the explanation for the terrific battery life due to its lower power usage.
