2 new netbooks released in Japan

Two new very modest run-of-the-mill netbooks have been launched in Japan. From two different companies, neither offers anything remarkable besides what we’ve come to expect from standard netbooks.

From Kohjinsha comes the Kohjinsha ML6 range with smaller 8.9-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display than what is becoming the norm in the netbook world nowadays. It sports a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. Weighing 2.4 pounds, it also comes with WiFi, Windows XP, a battery good for 4 hours on a single charge. The ML6 is available in black or white at a retail price of 39,800 yen (US$410).

Secondly is the bigger Averatec AVN0270NB by Trigem that boasts a 10.2-inch (1024 x 576 pixels) display, the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. The battery on this one will last about an hour longer than the Kohjinsha offering but you’ll also pay a little more with a 44,800 yen (US$460) price tag attached to it.
