Archos joins the pink netbook craze

Pink is in! You may see many guys on the street sporting pink t-shirts nowadays but also in the netbook world has it become a color of choice for many brands. Who can forget the recent blatent attempts at cashing in on Valentine’s Day by MSI and Samsung?

Valentine’s Day may be over but we now have an even pinker netbook to look forward to courtesy of Archos. The Archos 10 hasn’t been out long, available for merely a week but is already getting a pink color option. In all seriousness, this looks far more interesting than the bland black design we’ve seen.

Specs-wise, it is exactly the same as the black version, with a 10.2-inch screen (1024×600), 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home. $50 credit towards a purchase inthe Archos Media Store is also included.

Archos 10 now available

Just a few days after its big brother, the Archos 10s, was announced, the Archos 10 netbook is now available to buy.

I don’t know about you but I find the Archos 10 really bland in design and the specs are equally as mundane. a 10.2-inch screen (1024×600), 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home.

There are options for a 3-cell and 6-cell battery but according to Laptop Magazine’s review of the model (2 1/2 out of 5 stars) you’d be better off with the 6-cell battery as the 3-cell one lasted a mere 2 hours, while the 6-cell could give you double that.

Available at Amazon, the Archos 10 costs $380.99 ($20 off usual price) for the 3-cell version or $449.99 for the 6-cell version.

Meet the Archos 10s, older brother to the Archos 10

We only just recently found out concrete details about the Archos 10 netbook and already a successor is on the way.

But don’t worry if you’ve bought the “old” one because the Archos 10s (yes, the same name with an “s” at the end) isn’t much different. Spec-wise it is the same with a 10.2-inch screen (1024 x 600), 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home, but the 10s will have an added 3.5G modem for hooking up to broadband networks.

The “s” apparently has nothing to do with the addition of mobile broadband though, and instead represents the new machine’s slim design, which will measure just 20mm in thickness.

Archos 10 netbook set to arrive

Back on New Year’s Eve, we reported that Archos was in the process of getting a netbook ready to ship, and now some more concrete details have leaked at the French site Archos Lounge.

Unfortunately, there seems to be very little to get excited about and barring any surprises, it will just join the recent chain of developers trying to cash in on the netbook craze with a generic model. The Archos 10 as it is labelled has a basic, dull design and predictable specs – a 10.2-inch screen (1024×600), 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160 GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home.

3-cell and 6-cell batteries will be available with the Archos 10 and it looks like it’ll be available in two fittingly mundane color choices: black and white. Pricing and availability remain unknown, but more details are expected to emerge very soon, hopefully with a surprise or two that can try to attempt to distinguish this netbook from the million others hitting the market at a frantic pace.
