The Gigabyte M1024 will be powered by Intel’s Atom N270 processor and will be both thinner and more lightweight than the previous Gigabyte M1028. Other than that, we’ll have to wait and see what comes packed with it.

The second netbook is the Gigabyte M1022 and the only thing known about that is that it will use Intel’s new N280 processor for horsepower.

More specs and details should be released when they go on show at CeBIT ‘09, which runs from March 3rd to 9th in Hannover, Germany.

Richard Ma, vice president of Gigabyte, is still optimistic about the notebook market despite the global economic crisis, and the launch of these netbooks along with a 13.3-inch notebook, are parted of an adjusted operating strategy that the company hopes will lead to increased shipments this year.

Ma said that because Gigabyte’s netbook products offer higher specs than those of the competition, they have been pricing them at roughly US$150 more, but that limited shipments to 25,000 units last year. The new range will all have prices starting at US$400, but the company is considering a cheaper model priced below US$300 for emerging markets.

The mention was brief and specifics non-existent, but the main point of interest is that they will each have built-in 3.5G modems. Gigabyte currently have one of the priciest netbooks on the market, in the form of the $700 Gigabyte M912 that features a handy touch screen. Netbooks with touch screens are still a considerable rarity in the market, so it’ll be interesting to see if their new releases also have them.
