LG X120 gets release dates for Japan and Europe

We finally have some approximate release dates for LG’s X120 netbook that we learned earlier this month will be sold in America.

Japan will be the first to be graced by this impressive looking netbook, with the X120 expected to hit shelves there by the end of March — or in other words, any time now. Next month will come a wider release, with countries in Europe and 20 other nations getting the X120. Whether or not the US is part of that set of nations hasn’t been made clear.

LG Electronics netbooks to be sold in America

Korea’s LG Electronics is set to push into America with its netbooks after offering them in Europe for a few months. LG has been bundling its netbooks with mobile broadband plans in Europe and looks set to do the same in the US.

The LG X110 is one that will be sold in America but the new X120, notable for its SplashTop “instant-on” feature, is also expected to be part of the push.

Forbes reports that LG’s netbook offerings should be available in the US before July but what mobile providers they will affiliate with hasn’t been revealed yet.

LG showed off its LX120 netbook at CES 2009 this weekend and it is pretty hard to distinguish from its predcessor, the LX110. But it does have one standout feature and that is the SplashTop platform that allows you to boot it up quickly to get online or do something else without Windows XP having to load.

Other than that, the LX120 features a 10-inch WSVGA screen, along with the typical 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. There is no word on pricing or on whether it will be available in the U.S. yet, but the X110 currently isn’t.
