The most distinguishing feature of this is a 13.4-inch screen that is immense by netbook standards. Size-wise, this is certainly a laptop, but its specs — most notably its Intel Atom processor — still define it as a netbook. Along with the huge screen and Atom processor, the X320 is going to feature three USB ports, an SD card slot, and VGA out capability. The thickness ranges from 6mm to 19.8mm and the machine will weigh 1.3kg.

Pricing, release dates, and worldwide availability have yet to be announced, but here is yet another monster-sized netbook to confuse people wondering exactly what a netbook is in comparison to a laptop.

Two months later and MSI has officially introduced the U115 Hybrid netbook after previously revealing it to Europe earlier in December. A big feature is the new “Eco Mode” that disables power to the hard drive to prolong battery life, while also giving the netbook extra protection. If the machine is only running the SSD and something happens to your netbook, like a bad bump, being in “Eco Mode” and having the HDD disabled would protect it from possible data loss.

The U115 will come packed with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and SSD/HDD combo options of 8GB/120GB and 16GB/160GB.

It has been available outside of Japan in some markets for a while, but is only now being released over there.

The specs are the same as the usual Wind U100 model: 10.2-inch LCD screen, 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. The cost for this pale machine in Japan will be ¥56,800 or around US$615.

So, we have the MSI Wind U100 already out there and very popular, and now the Wind U120 announced, but what about the ones in between? Well, Lilputing via Netbook3G has posted some very interesting information on them.

Both the U110 and U115 netbooks from MSI are on the way, but its the U115 that is of most interest. It will sport something called a “hybrid storage system” that will be compromised of both a hard drive and SSD. The operating system will be installed on the SSD, and the idea behind this is that is leaves lots of free space on the hard drive for other stuff. Another note about the U110 is that it will use Intel’s Atom Z530 processor and not the Z270 that is more common, such as in the U100. The Z270 extends battery life by using less power. The U115 will offer three SSD/HDD combo options: 8GB SSD/80GB HDD, a 16GB SSD/120GB HDD, and 32GB SSD/160GB HDD.

Its predecessor, the Wind U100, was met with largely favorable reviews, but hit stores missing a few features that would have been useful.

The basic specs for the U120 are the recent standard, with the Atom-fueled Intel 1.6GHZ processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive (double from last time, but still no SSD option). Also packed in are a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The new additions are sure to please fans of the Wind series though, particularly the option of either 3.5G Solution or Intel WiMAX Technology for internet connectivity on the go. The design, with a 10-inch screen, is also much sleeker and easier on the eyes than its predecessor.
