The only significant changes are a better keyboard and trackpad, an extended 6-cell battery for up to eight hours of use, and a glossy finish. Laptop Magazine is calling it a “near-perfect netbook” and for a well configured version, the N110 will cost about $469.

On the other hand, the N310 netbooks, unleashed today, are very different. These are 10.1-inch with 1024 x 576 pixel screen netbooks with a battery lasting up to 5 hours and the possibility of an extended battery with up to 11 hours of life on a charge.

Weighing 2.7lbs, the N310 range will sport an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive, plus connectivity options (WiFi, Bluetooth, HSDPA, WiBRO). Color choices will include black, blue, and red.

The N310 series will be available in the UK for £399 (US$580) in May with a US release date to follow.

Underneath the shiny blue lid are the same goodies as any NC10 — a 10.2-inch display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a 6-cell battery good for about seven hours of use.

The next in line to cash in on the highly commercialized Valentine’s Day is Samsung, who according to this post at Liliputing are preparing to launch a pink model of the NC10 netbook. Scheduled for a February 10th release, the cutesy addition to the NC10 series isn’t being specifically billed as a Valentine’s Day edition on its product page but the timing of the release fools no one.

dabs.com has it listed at £315 (US$433), while overclockers.co.uk is asking for £327 (US$450).

Other than the pink paint job, there is nothing especially “Valentine” about this — no “My Valentine” USB flash drive like you get with MSI’s new release — and the specs are the same as a usual NC10 with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and the usual additions.

Four netbooks were recorded among the most searched for computers by UK internet users last month. The Samsung NC10 was the most popular, ranking in second place (the Sony Vaio laptop came in first, for those curious), then the Acer Aspire One in third place, followed by the MSI Wind (seventh place), and the ASUS Eee PC (eighth place). Just missing the top ten was the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, a whisker away from allowing netbooks to control half of the rankings. Of special interest is the mention of the Samsung NC10 becoming the fastest growing netbook since the beginning of October in search rankings, with a staggering 675% increase.

New black and two-tone blue color choices will soon be out and about, joining the all-white model already circulating. Samsung aren’t just changing the lid color as many manufacturers do, their transformations are thorough and extend all around the model, from the lid down to the trackpad. Specs are the same, but given the generally glowing reviews for this model, that shouldn’t be a problem.

The NC10 is packed with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, Intel GMA 950 graphics, and a SuperBright 10.2-inch LCD to enjoy them on. Battery life is about 8 hours and it weighs just 2.9 pounds.
